NEW YORK » A ceremony in New York marking the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks has ended after the names of the victims were read aloud over several hours.

It began with a solemn bell toll and a moment of silence at the World Trade Center site. The moment of silence at 2:46 a.m. today Hawaii time marked the time when the first plane hit the twin towers on a clear, sunny day in 2001. Then, families of the victims started reading the names of those who died.

Relatives and friends spoke of how they still missed their loved ones despite the years that have passed, and promised never to forget them.

Ceremonies were also held in Washington and in Shanksville, Pa. The other hijacked planes crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Va., and a field near the small western Pennsylvania town.

the planes did not crash intio the pentagon or the WTC they were piloted into those buildings and the field in Pennsylvania the terrorists pilots did all this. so stop saying they crashed, just shows how stupid the AP is in writing this story..

Piloted to crash??? Pilot refers to controlling the direction only. Crash is the impact of a solid building/ field in front of the plane. Glad I went to my GED class.
