Kailua man drives car into 7-Eleven, arrested on suspicion of DUI

Police arrested an 18-year-old Kailua man early Thursday after he allegedly plowed into the front of a convenience store in Kailua.

The crash occurred at 7-Eleven located at 1247 Kailua Road. The driver was operating a two-door 1999 Honda Accord when he crashed into the store at about 1:45 a.m. Police said there were no injuries. 

Officers located the driver a short time later in the Kailua area and arrested him under the suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

Another tidbit, Kailua Road,going makai or towards the ocean, changes to Kuulei Road when crossing over Oneawa street. Kailua Rd snakes into Kailua town then down to Kalapawai market or Kalaheo Ave. So the scene is two miles from HPD. Think about it.

And that is going to stop an 18 year old from doing what he did. Think about it! Kids have been doing underage drinking for years-no matter what age. You can raise the legal age to 50 and there will STILL be 18 yr olds drinking (male or female).
