Flash flood advisory lifted for Kauai

By Star-Advertiser staff

LAST UPDATED: 01:11 p.m. HST, Oct 11, 2013

A flash flood advisory was lifted for Kauai early this afternoon.

Officials at the National Weather Service earlier had said an area of heavy rain from Lihue to Anahola was holding nearly stationary with rainfall rates over 1 inch an hour.

A flash flood warning for Oahu was lifted after heavy rains drenched the windward coast early this morning.

The weather service reported at 5:30 a.m. that up to six inches of water was observed on Kamehameha Highway between Punaluu and Kaaawa

I tell the tourist not have a umbrella just to wait under a roof since most of the rain in Hawaii is the short and passing type.

While I realize that the flash flood warning was due to raining in certain parts of the island, it just seems funny that we get these warnings when Honolulu is dry as a desert.
