Know the feeling well. Pedestrians are totally "unconscious" on roadways. They don't regard vehicles. Jogger jogging on the side of the road decides to veer right across a cross walk without looking at the car traveling on the road beside him. He just turned into the path of the car. Fortunately for the driver the speed was really low because 'almost home', going half speed, 20 mph and watching the jogger peripherally." Car steered to the right to miss the jogger cutting across the bonnet front. He waved. A sigh of relief and how really....... some people are.

So was the victim vertical, or horizontal, prior to being struck?
