Multiple people stabbed after Denver football game

By Associated Press

LAST UPDATED: 02:26 p.m. HST, Dec 13, 2013

DENVER » At least three people were stabbed in a parking lot at Sports Authority Stadium Field at Mile High after the Denver Broncos' game Thursday night.

Police spokesman Steve Warneke said three males were stabbed, and a fourth may have been stabbed, but that person left the scene.

Three people were taken into custody, and two were released pending further investigation. Warneke says 29-year-old Justin Lee Manzanares is being held for investigation of assault charges.

Police say he pulled a knife from a sheath he was wearing on his belt and cut or stabbed all three people. They say the fight started after he pulled out of a parking spot and nearly hit the victims' vehicle.

Police say that the incident was called in at 9:55 p.m.

The Denver Post reports there were multiple eye-witnesses.

Warneke said one person was initially in critical condition, but all are conscious and talking

Stadium Management Company issued an email stating that it is working with authorities.

The Broncos lost 27-20 to the San Diego Chargers.

The stabbing Thursday is just one of several recent incidents involving football fans.

Earlier this month in Kansas City, Mo., a man died after an altercation in the Arrowhead Stadium parking lot during Kansas City's game against Denver.

In September in San Francisco, a teenage fan suffered a concussion and a broken arm and nose at Candlestick Park after police say he was attacked during the 49ers' game against Indianapolis.

There should be a law that everyone who drives must be in a car with several dinges and dents. So if some stranger happened to back into you or open their door and ding your car you can smile and declare "another dent" and not get paranoid and want to beat the strange driver up. Some how we need to not let the small things in life be the big things that control our behavior.

Or maybe people should just be more careful (and courteous) when driving or opening their car door. The few times I've actually been in my car when someone opened their door and dinged mine, it was because they were careless. Even after they realized that I was in the car, they just walked away - not even an apology. I'm not one to physically confront someone over such an incident, but it shows how thoughtless some people are. Common courtesy is not so common anymore.
