The Postal Service is temporarily extending hours at four Oahu post offices to help accommodate the rush of holiday mailings.

The Aiea, Makiki, Waialae-Kahala and Waipahu post offices will remain open until 6 p.m. from Wednesday through Dec. 20.

Postal officials suggest customers mailing items via Priority Express Mail to the mainland send them off by Thursday for arrival by Christmas.

AVOID the Makiki P.O.! traffic backs up, poor parking and wait in line is 25 mins. or longer. Only to be treated rudely by the clerks! Then they wonder WHY they're losing money??

Think anyone will hear your plea during the heart of the Christmas rush? Makiki is in the middle of town, whatzupwidat. People will go there for no other reason than that.
