Kalihi man arrested after allegedly robbing neighborhood supermarket

A 30-year-old Kalihi man is in police custody after he allegedly robbed a Kalihi supermarket Thursday afternoon and assaulted a woman who works there, police said.

Police said the man entered the supermarket around 1:45 p.m., took items without paying for them and assaulted an employee while attempting to leave. 

The man fled and was located by officers about 20 minutes later near the bus stop fronting North King and Umi streets, according to police records. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
