Hawaii County police are searching for a man in connection with an all-terrain vehicle that was stolen in Hamakua.

Police said that sometime between 6 p.m. Nov. 27 and 6:46 a.m. Nov. 28, someone entered a property on Paauilo Cane Haul Road, damaged a fence, forced open a storage barn and removed an ATV. The vehicle is described as a green 2002 Honda Foreman 500 ES with a front-mounted winch, basket and a cracked left-front fender.

Surveillance video captured an unknown man with a flashlight wearing a baseball cap, jacket, shorts and carrying a backpack around 4 a.m.

Police ask that anyone who knows the identity of the man or the whereabouts of the ATV call the department's non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311. Callers who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (808) 961-8300 in Hilo or (808) 329-8181 in Kona.
