$500,000 bail set for man accused in niece's death

By Associated Press

Bail is $500,000 for a Big Island man charged with manslaughter in the death of his 3-year-old niece.

A Hawaii County prosecutor says a judge found probable cause at a preliminary hearing Thursday, moving the case against Ezekiel Wakinekona forward.
Marley Makanani was found unconscious at his home Friday and was pronounced dead Sunday after being flown to a Honolulu hospital.
The medical examiner's office says she died of brain damage from a near drowning and injuries from abuse.
A 2-year-old and a 6-year-old who also lived in Wakinekona's home were taken into protective custody. The state is finding relatives to care for the girls.
Wakinekona is also charged with two counts of abuse for injuries on the girls. He could not be reached Thursday at Hawaii Community Correctional Center.

The bail should be 1/2 milllion for the 3 year old and 1/2 million for the other two. What else did he do to these kids. The mother is "off" too. I'm glad SA showed a pick of the kid smiling. I hope that 3 year old screamed so loud in his right ear, that when he sits in his cell years from now, that ear goes deaf.

Why did this guy have custody of the girls in the first place?

Well, their own mother didn't want to take care of them....their grandmother didn't either. He was the last man standing. The public is numb with babies making babies and tossing their kids on the social system to raise. Why has this mother been allowed to remain unidentified? Put her photo next to his. She's the one who dumped her kids on this baby beater. These kids were beaten for months!
