All 18 University of Hawaii-Manoa athletic teams reached the minimum NCAA Academic Performance Rate benchmark and the school will not face a loss of scholarships for the first time in the six-year history of the academic yardstick, the university said.

In previous years UH-Manoa has been sanctioned in men's basketball, baseball and football.

But all three sports scored above the 925 point multi-year benchmark that measures retention and graduation for the 2008-'09 academic year.

Men's basketball was 1,000, baseball was 980 and football 975.

Teams with scores below the 925 threshold may be docked scholarships. A four-year figure below 900 is subject to more severe sanctions, including the possible loss of postseason play.

Men's basketball was 1,000, baseball was 980 and football 975.

Scores are based upon the grades of athletes who are academically eligible to compete, the number who are still enrolled and the number who graduate within five years.

Eight UH-Manoa sports -- men's basketball, men's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's cross country, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis, women's volleyball and water polo -- hit single-year 1,000 scores, the university said.
