Kaufman wins high jump gold at NCAAs

Hawaii's Amber Kaufman won the high jump at today's NCAA outdoor track and field championships in Eugene, Ore., It is the first gold for a UH athlete in track and field since 1984 when Gwen Loud won the long jump. 

Kaufman cleared four heights on her first jump, the last at 6 feet, 1 1/4 inches (1.86 meters). She failed on her three attempts at 6-2 1/2 (1.89M).

Kaufman's personal best is 6-4. This is her fifth All-America performance (top eight) in track. She also earned All-American honors in volleyball.

Kaufman has one year of track eligibility remaining.
