CBS will use an empty warehouse behind the shuttered offices of The Honolulu Advertiser as the official sound stage for “Hawaii Five-0,” the network announced today.

The Kapiolani Boulevard property has been largely empty since the newspaper ceased publication June 6.

“It’s an iconic structure for an iconic series, paying tribute to the history and community of Honolulu,” the network said in a prepared statement.

When the network filmed the series pilot in March, it used a variety of local buildings, including the old post office in downtown Honolulu.

“In addition to the stage, ‘Hawaii Five-0’ looks forward to utilizing and showcasing numerous locations throughout Hawaii,” CBS said.

The network expects to begin shooting episodes on July 15 and will premiere the series in September in the 9 p.m. time slot on Monday nights.
