Hawaiian Electric Co. said power was restored to Ala Moana Center around 8 p.m. after two major stores, Macy's and Sears, endured yet another blackout just days before Christmas.

HECO spokesperson Darren Pai said the cause was a short-circuit in an underground cable.

Macy's and Sears, at opposite ends of the mall, lost power just before 7 p.m.

Portions of the mall were without electricity Sunday, Monday and yesterday.
