Honolulu Fire Department personnel extinguished a small brush fire that came within 3 feet of homes on Kaamilo Place in Pearl City this afternoon.

Four engines and a tanker responded to the 1 p.m. call and were able to contain the fire, which was in dense brush near a dry steam bed behind the homes, within an hour. The fire was fully extinguished by 2:20 p.m.

No houses were damaged and there were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
