Quarterback Andrew Manley was named the Western Athletic Conference offensive player of the week for leading New Mexico State to a milestone upset of Minnesota Saturday, the conference office announced today.
Manley, a sophomore and graduate of Leilehua High, completed 20 of 31 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns in the 28-21 victory. It was the first win for New Mexico State against a Big Ten team and the first victory over a team from an automatic qualifying Bowl Championship Series conference team since 1999.
Aggies' defensive back Jonte Green and Fresno State punt returning Devin Wylie were named the defensive player and special teams performer of the week.
Hawaii receiver Miah Ostrowski and safety Richard Torres were nominated for offensive and defensive honors, the conference office said.
