The four major candidates for Honolulu mayor say they support restrictions on campaign signs, according to The Outdoor Circle.

The group said today that it surveyed or interviewed the candidates and Kirk Caldwell, Peter Carlisle, Panos Prevedouros and Rod Tam agreed to support “a judicially defensible ordinance to bring controls to the posting of campaign signs in Honolulu County.”

The Outdoor Circle wants lawmakers to limit the size of campaign signs. A City Council resolution to restrict the size of the signs will get its first hearing in the Council Zoning Committee Tuesday.

“At a time when Oahu neighborhoods are being overrun with campaign signs and banners it is extremely good news that the next mayor of Honolulu will help reverse the blight brought to our communities during every election,” said Bob Loy, Director of Environmental Programs.

The group does not endorse political candidates.
