Hawaii joins the rest of country in marking Labor Day today.

The unofficial end of summer means federal, state and city-county offices are closed.

On Oahu, the public bus system is running on a Sunday schedule, and there is regular trash pickup.

In Honolulu, the annual Unity House Labor Day picnic is set for 4 p.m. at the Waikiki Shell in Kapiolani Park. Those attending the free event are asked to bring canned goods for the Aloha United Way food drive.
