A flood advisory for Oahu issued by the National Weather Service this morning expired at 12:45 p.m.

Earlier, the weather service said a band of heavy rain was nearly stationary over Windward Oahu. A weather system near the state will keep trade winds light with an increased chance of heavy showers through tonight, according to the weather service.

The trough is forecast to weaken and head west of the state by Friday. Trade winds will return to moderate levels behind the system as high pressure builds north. Typical trade wind patterns should be expected this weekend and into the middle of next week.

A rain gauge at St. Stephens showed heavy rain falling at nearly 2 inches per hour this morning.

Other areas in the advisory included Punaluu, Laie, Kaaawa and Hauula.
