Honolulu firefighters conducted rescue operations on land and sea yesterday.

The fire department helicopter and a fire rescue crew helped a woman who injured her leg on the Maunawili Falls Trail yesterday morning.

Fire Capt. Robert Main said the 48-year-old woman twisted her lower leg and firefighters were called shortly before 10 a.m. to assist her.

Firefighters hiked about 30 minutes to reach the woman and prepared her for a fire helicopter that carried her to a waiting ambulance, Main said. The woman's injuries were not life-threatening.

Several hours later, firefighters responded to an overturned boat in Kaneohe Bay off Kahaluu.

The boaters had righted their 10-foot skiff, but lost the engine after it fell into the water at about 1:30 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, a couple of kayakers were trying to tow the boat back to shore. Firefighters on personal water craft pulled the vessel to Heeia Kea Boat Harbor. No one was injured.
