The National Weather Service has issued a high-surf  for the north and west shores of Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Kauai and Niihau and the west shore of Lanai until 6 p.m.

North Shore surf should be in the 18-to-24-foot range tonight, diminishing to 15 to 30 feet tomorrow, the weather service said.

A high-surf warning for the west shores of the Big Island will remain in effect until 6 p.m. tomorrow. Surf is expected to be in the 8- to 12-foot range.

Inexperienced swimmers should avoid the ocean, the agency warned.

A high-surf warning for Kauai and Niihau was canceled just before 8 p.m.
