An early-morning car accident on Kamehameha Highway in Waikane knocked over a utility pole, disrupting rush-hour traffic and cutting off electricity to about 200 Hawaiian Electric Co. customers.
A Jeep crashed into the pole before 3 a.m. and there were no reports of major injuries.
Traffic is being contraflowed but Honolulu police advice motorists to avoid Kamehameha Highway near Kamaka Loop in Waikane as a Heco crew works on fixing the pole and restoring power.
Police and a Heco spokesman had no estimate on when the repairs would be complete.
