The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified the Kaneohe Marine who died Sunday in a motorcycle crash in Aikahi Park as Brian Zuniga of Kaneohe.

The medical examiner’s office said the cause of death was mutliple blunt force injuries due to an accident.

Zuniga died at Castle Medical Center from injuries suffered in the crash, police said.

The crash happened at about 5:10 p.m. at the intersection of Mokapu Boulevard and Kaneohe Bay Drive.

Police said a white 2011 Chevy Aveo sedan, driven by a 76-year-old man from the mainland, was making a left hand turn from Mokapu Boulevard to Kaneohe Bay Drive when a 2006 blue Yamaha motorcycle hit it.

The 25-year-old driver of the motorcycle was ejected and suffered “massive internal and head injuries,” police said.

He was taken to the Castle Medical Center, where he later died. He was wearing a helmet, police said.

The driver of the Chevy was not injured.

Police said it appears the driver of the Chevy disregarded a turn signal. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The fatality is the 39th death on Oahu roads this year, compared to 39 at the same time last year
