Police arrest man after alleged hotel burglary and attack on officer

A 41-year-old man was arrested after allegedly burglarizing a Waikiki hotel and assaulting a police officer yesterday afternoon.

 
Police said a man entered the front desk office of the Kuhio Banyan Hotel and took cash from a front desk clerk about 2:20 p.m.
 
On-duty police officers were called and located the suspect in front of the 2310 Kuhio Avenue establishment. After assaulting one of the officers, police recovered the money and returned it to the clerk. They also arrested the suspect, of no local address, on counts of second-degree robbery and assaulting a police officer.
 
The officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said.
