Police chase down auto theft suspects at Round Top Drive

By Gordon Y.K. Pang

POSTED:

The routine rousting of illegally parked cars from Round Top Drive Lookout, the popular late-night gathering spot, got exciting for police who chased down two men in a stolen vehicle about 11:40 Tuesday night.

After a computer check showed one of the vehicles had been reported stolen, an officer followed the suspected stolen vehicle down Round Top Drive in coordination with other officers. After the vehicle stopped near Maunalaha Road, the driver of the vehicle became combative and attempted to flee from officer.

The man, 29, of no local address, was arrested after a brief struggle on counts of resisting arrest and automobile theft. A passenger, a 28-year-old Palolo man, was arrested on suspicion of entering a vehicle illegally.
