A 24-year-old man and three witnesses chased and captured two alleged car thieves late Saturday night in Waikiki, police said.

The man returned to his parked car at about 11:45 p.m. and found two people inside, police said. The couple fled from his car, but the  24-year-old man and three other people -- a 25-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman -- chased the suspects down and held them until police arrived.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old man and 20-year-old woman, both Makiki residents, near the parking structure across from the Hale Koa Hotel on Kalia Street just after midnight.
