Warmer weather expected, but vog and chance of rain in forecast

POSTED:

Winds from the south should warm things up today and tonight after a chilly evening that saw temperatures drop to a low of 61 degrees at Honolulu Airport and 60 degrees in Kaneohe.

But the southerly winds may also bring vog and an increased chance of showers through Wednesday.

Forecasters said calm winds and clear skies allowed temperatures to drop into the low 60s and even the 50s Friday night. Lihue reported a low of 56 degrees, Kahului saw 58 degrees and Kaunanakai recorded 55 degree temperatures.

The forecast calls for partly to mostly sunny skies with vog over Maui, possibly spreading to other islands. There's a 20 percent chance of showers in the afternoon and evening over Oahu. Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 15 mph.
