Honolulu Board of Water Supply crews re-opened two Koko Head-bound lanes of Kalanianaole Highway in the Waialae-Kahala area today. The lanes were closed at Ainakoa Avenue at 5:55 p.m. to repair a water main break.

The lane closure caused a massive traffic back-up for commuters yesterday afternoon.

The problem started as a leak at 10 a.m.

Board of Water Supply crews worked through the evening to repair the main and the road and restore service to three homes. A water wagon was on scence for residents.

Board of Water Supply crews had some problems during the excavating process due to the hard ground, a spokesman said.
