Honolulu's Michelle Wie bounced back from missing the cut last week to shoot a 68 today in the second round of the Women's British Open to make the cut in the LPGA Tour's final major of the year.

Wie began the second round tied for 75th and in danger of going home early in back-to-back women's golf events for the first time this year. In her last three tournaments, Wie tied for 72nd, tied for 55th and missed the cut at the Evian Masters in France last week.

Today she carded six birdies and two bogeys en route to finishing in a tie for 38th through the opening 36 holes. She trails leader Caroline Masson by nine shots.

The Punahou School graduate missed the cut in two of 12 events. She has four top-10 finishes and fell three spots this week to No. 14 in the world.

Wie entered the Women's British Open at No. 150 on tour in driving accuracy and No. 108 in putting, a bad combination that has led to no wins this season. She has earned $331,574 and is 19th on the 2011 money list.
