» Junior kindergarten is due for elimination under action by the 2012 Legislature; it is not part of the preschool initiative this session, as implied in a Page F1 story Sunday. Also, the proposal is for more universal — but not mandatory — preschool, and would not be a voucher program. The state would pay qualifying contracted providers directly, not give subsidies to families.
