Sorry I have to be a killjoy but a correction is needed with this worthy cause.....It should be called "Role Models Next Door" not Hero's Next Door. A Hero is someone who substantially risks his/her life to save another. A role model is someone who is looked up to as an example for others to follow. I am seeing the word "HERO" being diluted alot in it's misuse and that is not fair to those who truly deserve the title. You could also call this program; Volunteer Next Door. Volunteer= A person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or undertaking willingly and without pay.

True to some degree, but not necessarily correct. Heroes have multiple definitions: 1). Somebody who commits an act of remarkable bravery or who has shown an admirable quality such as great courage or strength of character i.e. War Hero 2) Somebody who is admired for outstanding qualities or achievements. i.e heroes of the war against poverty. Just my 2 nickels....

#2 is a quote from "Bing"directory and I submit that they are part of the problem I first spoke about......instances in current affairs where words are being dumbed down or watered down from their original meaning. Sorry juscasting, I respectfully disagree with your premise. furthermore; "war on Poverty" is by itself really a play on words in the vain of poetry and not a literal discription but a overdramatization to make a point and not meant to be literally a "war".

Funny how people will write an entire paragraph about misuse of a word without even looking it up

I did look it up and I do know the true use of these words so H20.......instead of just spouting off at the mouth, make your case......prove me wrong, I will admit to fault if your case is valid.
