A 50-year-old man plucked from the ocean along the Leeward Coast of Oahu died yesterday after apparently going into cardiac arrest, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city's Emergency Services Department.
Police said the man was taking part in an "ocean activity" coordinated by a local tour operator and was attempting to swim back to the tour boat when he began struggling.
He was pulled from the water and onto the vessel sometime after 11 a.m. and may have gone into cardiac arrest on the vessel, Cheplic said.
People onboard performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until they tied up at Ko Olina Yacht Harbor. Paramedics treated the man and took him to a hospital in critical condition, Cheplic said. He was later pronounced dead.
A motorcycle accident yesterday fronting Lanai Lookout left one rider in critical condition and another in stable condition, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city's Emergency Services Department.

Police are looking for the driver of a stolen car that struck and injured a pedestrian Saturday morning in Pearl City.
Police say the vehicle was traveling south on Kaahumanu Street near Times Supermarket when it struck another car, veered off the road and hit the pedestrian.
The driver and a passenger fled the scene on foot. Police caught the passenger, a 21-year-old woman, and arrested her on suspicion of second-degree unlawful entry into a motorized vehicle.
Police do not have a description of the driver.
The pedestrian was taken in serious condition to an area hospital but was later upgraded.
