North Shore head-on collision injures 4

Five people were transported to a trauma center Saturday morning after a head-on crash on the North Shore, Emergency Medical Services said.

Three people — a 34-year-old woman, 14-year-old girl and 81-year-old man — were transported in serious condition. An 11-year-old boy was transferred in stable condition, and a woman in her 70s was transported without injuries, EMS said.

The two-vehicle crash on the Joseph P. Leong Highway occurred at about 10:30 a.m. All of the victims were riding in one car. EMS said no one in the other vehicle was injured.

2 arrested in sex assaults make bail

A 53-year-old man was arrested Friday morning for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl, Honolulu police said.

The man, of a Kailua address, allegedly assaulted the girl from 2007 to 2009, according to police records.

He was arrested at 10:10 a.m. Friday on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault and was released that evening on $20,000 bail.

In a separate incident, a 59-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl, police said.

According to police records, the girl reported that the assault took place in a Kaimuki home from 10 p.m. Dec. 14 to about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 15. The suspect was arrested at 10:18 a.m. Thursday without incident on suspicion of four counts of first-degree sexual assault, police said.

The Honolulu Prosecutor's Office later reclassified all four counts to second-degree sexual assaults, and police said the man was released at 6:05 p.m. Friday on $100,000 bail.
