Shrine visits start year off right

    Daijingu Temple of Hawaii has placards for the Year of the Snake as part of it's omamori. People write their wishes on the back of a placard which is then hung at the temple or placed at a home altar.

    Arrows, or "shugoya," offer good luck, fortune and protection.

    The temple also offers various "omamori": amulets for the protection of children.
