Trees' roots extend into a past of tranquility

~~<p>Three, tall slender gold trees grow in Thomas Square near the corner of Ward Avenue and Beretania Street, across from the Honolulu Academy of Arts. They bring joy whenever I see them.</p>
<p>I remember planting them with our dear friend Christine Snyder before we tragically lost her. Christine, an arborist with the Outdoor Circle, went down on United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in a Pennsylvania field on Sept. 11, 2001. They said she was helping to calm and comfort terrified keiki on the plane.</p>
