UH research ship springs a leak, cuts short voyage
The Coast Guard goes to aid the Kilo Moana, which was 70 miles off Oahu

~~<p>The crew of a University of Hawaii research vessel cut short its voyage Friday because of a baseball-size hole in the vessel's hull.</p>
<p>The Kilo Moana began taking on water Friday morning about 70 miles north of Oahu after a hole developed in the starboard hull of the 186-foot catamaran, said Brian Taylor, dean of the UH School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology. He didn't immediately have information on what caused the damage, but said there was no imminent danger to life or property.</p>
