Clear, written social media policy helps protect brand

~~<p><strong>Question</strong>: Company employees are active on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and the more professionally oriented LinkedIn. Should all businesses, large and small, have a social media policy, and if so, why?</p>
<p><strong>Answer</strong>: Most businesses already have policies in their employee handbooks that detail the expectations and guidelines for the use of the telephone, email or internet by employees while at work. A well-written social media policy simply keeps a company up to date with the ever-evolving practices of modern business and technology. Existing policies that cover harassment or discrimination that have been in place for many years might not be sufficient to cover the use of social media.</p>
