‘Descendants’ author gets special shout-out at Globes

~~<p>The last two awards of the night at the Golden Globes Awards went to “The Descendants” star George Clooney, for best actor in a drama, and “The Descendants” for best dramatic picture.</p>
<p>The movie was filmed in Hawaii, with several isle actors getting roles, and was based on Kaui Hart Hemmings’ book. Producers Jim Taylor and Jim Burke and director Alexander Payne accepted the best pic award with Hawaiian music in the background as they took the stage Sunday. As Payne looked to be ending his mahalo talk, which included the “people who helped us out in Hawaii,” Taylor leaned over to him and said, “Kaui, Kaui,” to make sure she was not forgotten. Payne quickly mentioned Kaui, “who wrote the book and gave us a beautiful gift.” Quite appropriate.</p>
