~~<p>Just over a week ago, the 55th Annual Hawaii State Science &amp; Engineering Fair showcased more than 450 projects developed by nearly 600 middle and high school students representing all of the major islands.</p>
<p>Returning home from the combative environment of Capitol Hill to meet and read about outstanding young scientists, budding engineers and math wizards was both heartwarming and hopeful.</p>
