~~<p>The University of Hawaii Board of Regents is scheduled to vote Thursday on the appointment of Tom Apple, provost at the University of Dela&shy;ware, as UH-Manoa's next chancellor.</p>
<p>UH has been vetting applicants since Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hin&shy;shaw announced in August that she will step down as the head of UH's flagship campus when her contract ends June 30.</p>
