~~<p>On Memorial Day 24 years ago, Katherine &quot;Kay&quot; Napoleon joined with her family at the Waikiki War Memorial Natatorium for a gathering that reflected the structure's purpose: to honor the 10,000 service members from Hawaii, including 101 killed, who served in World War I.</p>
<p>Napoleon's late husband, Walter, had been superintendent of the facility for 17 years during the 1930s and '40s.</p>
