Rail deserves to clear major funding hurdle

~~<p>At least seven years in the making, Honolulu's final funding plan for a 20-mile rail line between Kapolei and Ala Moana has been forwarded to the Federal Transit Administration for monetary partnership of a project that has been decades in developing.</p>
<p>The agency's approval of $1.55 billion in federal dollars is critical to moving forward with the transporta- tion necessity, and it should not be torpedoed by public or political cold feet.</p>
