Oahu theater groups offer something familiar, something peculiar, something for everyone

~~<p>Witches, zombies and an encounter with a suspected serial killer of small children are all on the schedule along with more benign characters as Oahu's vibrant theater community prepares for its 2012-13 season.</p>
<p>The witches are the lead characters in Broadway in Hawaii's touring company production of "Wicked," and it seems certain the big-budget musical will have some effect on support for Hawaii's resident theater groups during its run here. The local groups aren't running scared, however, and their programs cover almost every genre of mainstream theater as well as new works by Hawaii playwrights.</p>
