Gamers fill Hilton Waikoloa for Pokémon championship

~~<p>The <a target="_blank" href="http://www.pokemonworldchampionships.com/2012/regions/select_region" style="color: #0000ff;" span="">Pokémon World Championships</a> will unfold at the Hilton Waikoloa Village Friday through Sunday with nearly 1,000 players, family members, friends, fans, Pokémon Co. International staff and volunteers arriving at the Hawaii island hotel for the event.</p>
<p>Sort of like the Olympics, participants hail from almost 30 countries including the United States, Canada, Japan, Korea, France and Germany, but there's also at least one contestant from Malta, said J.C. Smith, Pokémon's consumer marketing director.</p>
