~~<p><strong>Injured officer remains in hospital</strong></p>
<p>A police officer injured in a crash Sunday in Wai&shy;pahu remained hospitalized Monday.<br />
<br />
The officer was responding to a request to assist a driver whose car that had spun out on a wet road and hit the guardrail on an H-1 onramp at the Kunia Interchange at about 7:25 a.m. Sunday.<br />
<br />
The officer, 29, was retrieving paperwork from the trunk of his patrol car when another car entering the onramp also went out of control and struck the officer&rsquo;s car, police said.<br />
<br />
The officer was pinned and broke his leg, police said.<br />

His name has not been released, but police said he is a patrol officer in the Pearl City district who has been on the force for two years.</p>~~
