~~<p><strong>Injured officer remains in hospital</strong></p>
<p>A police officer injured in a crash Sunday in Wai­pahu remained hospitalized Monday.<br />
<br />
The officer was responding to a request to assist a driver whose car that had spun out on a wet road and hit the guardrail on an H-1 onramp at the Kunia Interchange at about 7:25 a.m. Sunday.<br />
<br />
The officer, 29, was retrieving paperwork from the trunk of his patrol car when another car entering the onramp also went out of control and struck the officer’s car, police said.<br />

The officer was pinned and broke his leg, police said.<br />

His name has not been released, but police said he is a patrol officer in the Pearl City district who has been on the force for two years.</p>~~
