A&B plans isle-centric real estate portfolio

The Hawaii-based company will depend on its local knowledge to maximize gain

~~<p>After Alexander &amp; Baldwin Inc. spun off Matson Navigation Co. into a separate company three months ago, A&amp;B has looked pretty much like it did before the separation, minus Matson. But now the &quot;new A&amp;B&quot; is aiming to reshape another big part of itself.</p>
<p>The Honolulu-based firm has mapped a new strategy for one of its remaining backbones &mdash; real estate investing &mdash; after carving off its ocean cargo transportation subsidiary, which for decades had been A&amp;B's dominant piece.</p>
