~~<p>The Western Athletic Conference will take Hawaii into its fold next year, bringing membership back up to eight schools and giving a new dimension to UH athletics.</p>
<p>Yesterday, the WAC Presidents Council approved full UH participation in the conference starting July 1, 1979, provided the Rainbows' probationary status with the NCAA is concluded. UH football, basketball, baseball, golf, swimming and tennis teams then will compete for WAC championships.</p>
