WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL >> Siena (N.Y.) junior Taylor Akana (Kamehameha ’10) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference player of the week on Monday in leading the Saints to wins over Loyola and Rider. Akana had 22 kills and no errors in 39 swings with 11 digs against the Greyhounds and recorded her 13th double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs in the win over Rider. >> Washington (Mo.) senior Kelly Pang (‘Iolani ’09) was named the University Athletic Association defensive athlete of the week on Monday for the fifth time this season. Pang led the Bears to a 3-1 record at the second UAA Round Robin and recorded 47 digs in a five-set loss to Chicago on Saturday, breaking a single-match school record she previously held. She averaged 7.47 digs per match and tallied six assists and four aces. >> New Haven (Conn.) sophomore Kaulana Ane (Kamehameha-Maui ’11) was named the Northeast-10 women’s volleyball rookie of the week last Wednesday.
