Newsman placed public interest at forefront

~~<p>Charles E. &quot;Chuck&quot; Frankel, a passionate newsman who was devoted to the Hono&shy;lulu Star-Bulletin, died Tuesday at age 84 after suffering an aneurysm.</p>
<p>&quot;He was the kind of person who was the lifeblood of a newsroom,&quot; said Dave Sha&shy;piro, former managing editor of the Star-Bulletin. &quot;He thought a newspaper should stand for something and always do the right thing in the public interest, no matter what its own business interest might be.&quot;</p>

Charles E. "Chuck" Frankel, a passionate newsman who was devoted to the Hono­lulu Star-Bulletin, died Tuesday at age 84 after suffering an aneurysm.

"He was the kind of person who was the lifeblood of a newsroom," said Dave Sha­piro, former managing editor of the Star-Bulletin.
