Case and Kia'aina join list of U.S. Senate applicants

~~<p>Former U.S. Rep. Ed Case said Sunday that he has applied for the appointment to replace U.S. Sen. Daniel Ino&shy;uye.</p>
<p>Case, who lost in the Demo&shy;cratic primary for Senate this year to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka, served for four years in the U.S. House. He also lost a 2006 primary to Akaka and a 2010 special-election campaign to fill a vacancy in urban Hono&shy;lulu's 1st Congressional District.</p>
