State halts Kihei project for land use violations

~~<p>The state Land Use Commission ruled Thursday that revised plans for a commercial and light industrial subdivision violate the commission's 1995 order to reclassify 68 acres from agricultural to urban use and ordered the project stopped.</p>
<p>The original proposal was to develop the 123-lot Pii­lani Promenade North and South on Pii­lani Highway, but the developer has since added two shopping centers and a 250-unit employee housing project on the Kihei site.</p>
